Zo zagen mijn oliebollen er het afgelopen jaar uit. (Oeps..) Ik ben van plan het er dit jaar beter vanaf te brengen door hetzelfde recept correct toe te passen. (Appels en rozijnen WEL toevoegen.) Sometimes your boring day turns into an inspiring one all of a sudden. This happened to me today. In the morning I took a shower. Quite exciting because I am not doing that very often in these cold days. (As the water is icecold these days, two kettles of water are needed to make one bucket of warm water.) However, after eating and cleaning up, David left for church meeting and I sat down messaging some friends to go out for a coffee.(Ya... I am still longing for that one..) That was when I realized that I actually do not have a lot of friends to hang out with. I don't need so many but I could only think of one friend that I can talk with on kind of the same level. (Besides David) Long story short, none of the three friends that I reached out to were available today. Which made me sad, at already the second day of trying to go for a coffee. Of course I need to value the people that care about me and will anyhow welcome me when I come. However, I just wanted to have a cappucin...

Soms wordt je saaie dag opeens een inspirerende dag. Dit gebeurde me vandaag. In de ochtend nam ik een douche. Best wel speciaal, omdat ik dat in deze koude dagen niet zo vaak doe. Today I want to share with you what a normal day for me looks like nowadays. In the winter we wake up an hour later than in the summer because the sun is out later. Today we woke up at 7 am. I then fill our glasses with hot water from our thermos to drink and we worship and pray for the day and future. After prayers I make tea and start cooking dal bhat. It took some time but I can say I am now very talented for cooking Nepali food. On our plates you will find different dishes. Not that many as in a Thakali restaurant, but more than normal people cook for their own family. If you have a lady in home who cleans and cooks for you she will probably provide you with the same. I will write more about food in another post. When the food is ready, we eat it in the kitchen. I then wash the dishes and clean the kitchen. Vandaag wil ik met je delen hoe een normale dag voor mij er tegenwoordig uitziet. In de winter worden we een uur later wakker dan in de zomer omdat de zon later op is. Vandaag werden we om 7 uur wakker. Ik vul dan onze kommen met heet water uit onze thermoskan om te drinken en we prijzen en bidden voor de dag en de toekomst. Na het gebed maak ik thee en begin ik met koken. Het heeft even geduurd, maar ik kan zeggen dat ik nu heel getalenteerd ben voor het koken van Nepalees eten. Op onze borden vindt u verschillende gerechten. Niet zo veel als in een Thakali-restaurant, maar meer dan normale mensen koken voor hun eigen gezin. Als je een dame in huis hebt die voor je schoonmaakt en kookt, zal ze je waarschijnlijk hetzelfde geven. Ik zal meer over eten schrijven in een andere post. Als het eten klaar is, eten we het in de keuken. Ik doe daarna de afwas en maak de keuken schoon. Yeah! Yesterday was Christmas and we rejoiced greatly and enjoyed a lot with family and friends at church. Today is a day of rest from everything of Christmas. Now you would think we would just lay down and relax (that's what we did yesterday night already), but we did a lot of work this morning. It felt like a cleaning day to me. Sint is allang en breed vertrokken (als je er nog in gelooft), maar wellicht heb je nog een te grote voorraad kruidnoten liggen. Gebruik ze dan in dit overheerlijke recept voor advocaat taart/toetje/tiramisu : Zet een  kop extra sterke koffie . Laat afkoelen. Klop 500 ml slagroom extra stevig met klopfix en evt vanillesuiker. Spatel daar voorzichtig 8 volle eetlepels advocaat doorheen. Leg je vormbodem vol met een laag kruidnoten . Overgiet dat met de helft van de koffie. Bedek met de helft van het slagroommengsel. Opnieuw kruidnoten, koffie en slagroom. Pas het aantal lagen en de dikte ervan aan aan de vorm(en) die je gebruikt. Geen kruidnoten meer in de kast? Niet getreurd. Doe het met speculaas(brokken). Of voor een andere smaak: bestogne. Of zoals in het originele recept met lange vingers. Decoreer met chocoladevlokken , -hagelslag of cacao. Zet een paar uur in de koelkast en serveer jezelf en eventuele gasten. Geniet!

I copy my writing to Google Translate, copy it back and edit it so that its a proper translation and then publish it. A fast and easy way if Google Translate is accurate for your languages. Next week is Christmas and this week our church's Carols are going on. We visit believers and sing, pray, dance and share about Jesus' birth. At some houses they lit a fire and at every place they serve tea, snacks, or food. --- Volgende week is Kerst en deze week zijn de Carols van onze kerk. Saw some Dutch people posting their Hot Chocolate (HC) photos and wished to drink that. I know the milk here has a quite different taste that makes it hard to taste what I want to taste. The HC drinkers encouraged me to try it with a heap of sugar. Well, so I did. Brought a packet milk from the shop, boiled it and mixed it with cacaopowder and sugar. And? Just tasted what I had tasted before when I ordered HC in a restaurant. Blegh! I tried to enjoy the good taste in it without thinking about what I wished to have. How do you make your HC? Finally the moment was there. A small part of my kitchen working space had not been cleaned for quite a while. Now the space seemed to be free as no any leftover foods were left and kept in front of these pots. So I took them all aside and cleaned the space. And yes, then the lids and pots have to get cleaned as well! So the result: clean space, clean pots and clean lids (now drying in the reck). And I cleaned the drying reck area as well. Finally! My blog is online. I have been longing for this moment. It was hard though to come up with a good title and webaddress that is not existing already. In January we have a semester break and this 'work' to create a new blog I planned for that time. However, I felt so burdened to write since a few days. Facebook doesn't seem the right place for me to write as I like to write with more words than using photos and videos. It is a blue and not so creative looking space as well. So I chose for blogspot. Easy, because I have a Google account already. So why did I feel so burdened to write? Well, for myself I don't really know either. What I can tell you is that I have become very inspired since a week or so with amazing plans for the nearby future.
