To my friends

I wrote this post a month ago on my previous blog Hi friend, We have not spoken to each other for a long time. When you said that we would meet each other more often in life, I imagined a close friendship. I did not think we would not speak for years. Yet I trust that we are still friends somehow. That's why I write this letter. I know you were busy with other people and other things. Perhaps a love affair. I can earn income there. I myself always had the good idea that you should keep your friends, even if you are busy with the love of your life. I thought that easily while I was in a long-distance relationship and later living in Nepal where being together is rare before marriage. It is now nine months after our wedding day and I just start to crawl out of the newly-wed shell. That is to say, until now I was especially busy getting used to housekeeping, work in the church, our wedding in the Netherlands and studying. At least, those are my truth-based excuses. To put it m...

Friends wanted

Nepal is a land of kindness and hospitality. That sounds very nice and it is when you visit the country. Yet it can kill you at times, because it is not what it seems. I leave that kindness and hospitality as it is. They are certainly there. Unlike in the West, you do not have to make appointments here and you can just come in. (This is less and less the case for the city.) You are always welcome. So I also opened my house. Who wants may come. But no one came. So I invited people. A few came. That was it. The frustration has been under my skin for a while. Yesterday it came out. Like every Saturday we were in the church. After the service, everyone started to leave. And we too went home. Without plans for the rest of the day. I wanted to visit people or room around somewhere outside, because Saturday afternoon is the only and best moment in these busy times. David wanted to go home. Of course he sees most of them almost daily in his work for the church. At home the frustrat...

Vrienden gezocht

Inspiring day

Image
Sometimes your boring day turns into an inspiring one all of a sudden. This happened to me today. In the morning I took a shower. Quite exciting because I am not doing that very often in these cold days. (As the water is icecold these days, two kettles of water are needed to make one bucket of warm water.) However, after eating and cleaning up, David left for church meeting and I sat down messaging some friends to go out for a coffee.(Ya... I am still longing for that one..) That was when I realized that I actually do not have a lot of friends to hang out with. I don't need so many but I could only think of one friend that I can talk with on kind of the same level. (Besides David) Long story short, none of the three friends that I reached out to were available today. Which made me sad, at already the second day of trying to go for a coffee. Of course I need to value the people that care about me and will anyhow welcome me when I come. However, I just wanted to have a cappucin...

Inspirerende dag

Image
Dit gebeurde me vandaag.

Spiders / Spinnen

It looks like the spider season is over now. Everywhere were spiders with long thin legs, outside and inside the house. But for me the season starts now. I am ready to weave a web. I still remember the speech spoken by Mr. WvT at the student association. We are like spiders in a web, a network around us. Now that there is more and more insight into what we are going to do in Ilam, the desire to network is increasing. I would like to visit a school in the west of the country, run by a Canadian woman (started when she was eighteen). And I want to meet a woman who inspires me with her projects via Facebook. A good extension of my web. I now see that our room is full of spider web leftovers. Maybe I should leave them as a symbol of my life as a spider.
